A self-described “non-novel,” this book assembles what usually gets cut: abandoned openings, unfinished drafts, failed screenplays, journal entries, and the broken telepathic transmissions of a humanoid ape, interrupted at intervals by the monologue of a disembodied head. Read together, these pieces never settle into a single through-line. Narratives start, stall, contradict one another, and restart under slightly altered assumptions, showing how coherence relies on omission, sequencing, and force of will. The book places strain on the ordinary expectation that a voice, a plot, or a point of view will continue to mean the same thing from beginning to end.
